Hi all, Saturday and Sunday 11/15-16 I took ‘The Complete Neck Series’ with Michael Alicia, teacher extraordinaire from The Swedish Institute. I recommend it highly to all licensed massage therapists. This NCBTMB approved class provided me with 16 CE hours toward my Florida State Massage License and though continuing education credits are not required by New York State, provided me with invaluable knowledge and techniques which will come in great handiness (pardon the pun) to my NY practice as well.
The Complete Neck Series explores working with the neck from 3 different points-of-view; myofascial, neuromuscular and (active and passive) stretching and adds a Sotai and massage therapist self-care component at the end. This class began with an anatomy review and included DVD presentations of a human cadaver dissection showing the different layers of tissue organization (very practical) and living fascia from the very first International Fascial Symposium which revealed a wondrous beauty that may only be found in the microscopic world of the human body or in a forest on a magical winter day. Later, Michael demonstrated and corrected techniques that address common conditions such as Upper Cross and Head Forward and provided useful protocols for treating many other physical conditions where massage is indicated.
Michael Alicia’s class is chock full with pertinent, personally researched, valuable and usable content, yet I am compelled to recommend him also for his ability to represent himself as the consummate licensed massage professional: articulate, intelligent, positive, fun, funny, gentle, inspiring, physically representational and current in his body of knowledge.
He was so good I have requested content from him for the NYSSMMT newsletter of which I am currently the Editor and am recommending him as an excellent candidate for teaching seminars for NYSSMMT members.
10 students max. Current price of this 2 day 9-6 seminar is $195.
